The Thing #4 : Origins

Ach ! Das Ding ! It was also a 1951 science fiction film ! Directed by Howard Hawks (Scarface, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes)
Now this the story all about how their life got flipped, turned upside down, and we’d like to take a minute just sit right there,
we’ll tell you how to make a remake from the novel “Who Goes There”
So, some guys just found some frozen fin from prehistoric shark :

So after that, they cultivated tulips with germs from the frozen shark, just for the lulz.
They had got nothing much more to do, they’re just stuck in North Pole, and they did already gang banging the usual attention whore twice before, so…

But a stupid prick from the scientist crew just ate an experimental flower ! (Why? Hm, cause he just lost a bet, cause he’s lonely, or just because he’s off to eat seal crumbs all the time in this fucking artic basement. So this is what happened to him :

…and then he dispapeared in the artic fog.

wait… WAT ?

Yeah! So he turned into, like, a PREHISTORIC SHARKMAN !

hum… Hangover we are, indeed. What do you expect from this kind of movie anyway, except the traditional “fear of the invasion” gimmick ? Cool oldschool poster ? Here you go :

(there are many more, but this font is so pretty!)
For real, The Thing from Carpenter, and this common 50’s propagand horror movie are from the same scifi novel :
“Who Goes There” by John W. Campbell, Jr. under the pen name Don A. Stuart, published August 1938 in Astounding Stories.
In 1973, the story was voted by the Science Fiction Writers of America as one of the finest science fiction novellas ever written !
