Kitty – A Russian Computer Animation From 1968

Kitty – A Russian Computer Animation From 1968
Is it the world’s first ever computer animated film? It's strongly possible. Created by a team of Russian physicists and mathematicians in 1968, a mathematic model of a walking cat was created on a BESM-4 computer. This is the futur... of the past : The computer then “rendered” the resulting animation to a printer, using alphabetical characters (similar to the tractor-feed printed ASCII art, so common on the walls of early computer labs). The resulting frames of animation were then photographed by a motion picture camera, to produce the result shown above. (via)

Moonbell : listening to the topography of the moon.

Moonbell : listening to the topography of the moon.
MOONBELL transphorm the topography of the moon into sound. "Lunar orbiting satellite Kaguya (SELENE) was launched from Tanegashima Space Center on September 14, 2007 at 10:31am. Kaguya is currently orbiting the moon, taking observations of the lunar surface with 14 different sensors. Moonbell uses data from one of those sensors, a laser altimeter, or LALT, transforming the altitude data into musical intervals." See the “About” page for a complete description of all of Moonbell’s functions and controls. Read more

Les trois inventeurs – Michel Ocelot

Les trois inventeurs – Michel Ocelot
We do know that Michel Ocelot committed some Animated movies, but I had never seen images of his first short movie before. And it was a shame, because it seems to be quite charming, all made with paper and stuff. It was made in 1979, apparently. Anyway, here's a few images, and the only extract We found. http://www.animageasso.fr/spip/local/cache-vignettes/L520xH394/3INV_locomobile3-2-2e6d2.jpg
